BARAKALDO, 16 ENE 2023. El profesor e investigador barakaldés Jon Barrueco Gutiérrez, que trabaja en el Centro de Formación Somorrostro, de Muskiz, ha recibido un premio internacional sobre "innovación en materia de calidad". El reconocimiento se produce al proyecto liderado por Barrueco que consiste en una herramienta de inteligencia artificial (IA) que es capaz de detectar precozmente casos de acoso escolar.
La 16 edición de los Quality Innovation Award (QIA) ha otorgado el galardón a la iniciativa, bautizada como BucovIA, en la categoría de educación. El proyecto está desarrollado conjuntamente por el Centro de Formación Somorrostro, Nazaret de Donostia-San Sebastián y el colegio Zabálburu de Bilbao. A la convocatoria de premios, en todas las categorías, han concurrido 728 equipos de 18 países. La fundación vasca para la competitividad, innovación y sostenibilidad Euskalit es una de los 20 socios de la organización de los premios.
Jon Barrueco Gutiérrez, de 32 años, es doctor en Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones por la Universidad del País Vasco. Además del actual reconocimiento, también ha obtenido el premio de innovación en materia de calidad en la fase vasca de la convocatoria, y en su historial constan así mismo el Premio Educaweb 2021, el premio Idom al mejor expediente del curso académico 2011/2012 y en 2012/2013 así como el Premio Itelazpi al mejor proyecto fin de carrera 2013, entre otros.

El proyecto 'BucovIA: Herramienta de inteligencia artificial para detectar indicios de acoso escolar en el aula' ha sido reconocido como ganador del premio en la sección de innovación educativa. En este proyecto, liderado por nuestro profesor Jon Barrueco, participan junto a Somorrostro, el centro Nazaret de Donostia y el colegio Zabalburu de Bilbao.

En esta XVI edición de los Premios a la Innovación en materia de Calidad han participado un total de 728 proyectos de innovación procedentes de más de 20 países. La ceremonia de entrega de premios se celebrará el próximo 23 de febrero en Almaty, Kazajistán.

Quality Innovation Award 2022 - international winners announced: New Dry Distillation Technology is the winner of the 2022 Award
The Innovation of Innovations prize was awarded to New Dry Distillation Technology of Ecomation Oy from Finland. This is a new dry distillation method. With this, it is possible to produce useful raw materials and renewable energy for instance from biomaterials or waste plastics or organic waste.
Quality Innovation Award was organized for the 16th time. Participants were from Botswana, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, India, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Ruanda, Russia, South- Africa, Serbia, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden and Zimbabwe. In 2022, China Association for Quality succeeded from Finnish Quality Association as the chairman of the International Quality Award Roundtable Committee.
A total of 728 innovations participated in the competition and the best 24 were recognized with Awards or Prizes. The traditional Award Ceremony will be hosted by Kazak Organisation for Quality & Innovation Management on 23rd ,February.
As always, the winners of the Award in each category passed a strict methodology of evaluation based on their novelty value, usability, learning, customer orientation and effectiveness. The winners were chosen by the participating national Quality Associations via a rigorous voting process.
